What to do when your favourite designer retires

Hello and welcome to my blog!

It is a few months since I posted an update here.  I have seen quite a few regular bloggers decide to give up or have a break and I have been thinking the same thing myself, but I've quite missed blogging!  So here goes another try.

I am still stitching almost every day.  I have a project with a deadline which is for my Mum's upcoming 70th birthday in September.  She asked me to stitch her a Lowry design but she doesn't know which one I chose.

Here is where it was last time you saw it back on 1 March 2018...

and here is where I'm up to now on it...

This is a reminder of how the finished piece will look...

Photo borrowed from Bothy Threads website

I think I'm just about on target to finish by the end of July which is when I will need to take it for framing.  The pink mill and the roofs of the market stalls are almost done and that's the bulk of the full coverage.  Then onto the fun part - the people!

I've had quite a few small finishes as well but as usual they are not fully finished into anything yet.

A Little Stitch by Lizzie Kate

A Little Coffee by Lizzie Kate

Chick Party (small ornament) by Lizzie Kate

Bird in Hand - Spring by Heart in Hand Needleart

Can you tell I went a bit crazy when I found out Lizzie Kate was retiring?! I think I bought enough charts to last me a lifetime!

Hope to be back soon with some more stitching.

Until next time

Justine

I am sad there will be no more new L*K charts. I hope you do continue to blog as I enjoy seeing your work including the Lowrey.

I love your Lowry! What an exciting project. Your mom is going to adore it. And look at all the other finishes you've had! Can't slow you down.

Blogging is optional in life. I gave it up myself last year, but I was not doing visual arts. I think that if you enjoy it, you should do it for that reason, but if it becomes a chore or unsatisfying in any way, time to move on. From my point of view, I hope you find the joy to keep it up. Your blogs make my day.

What super finishes you shared along with your Market Scene WIP! I hope you continue to blog. Enjoy your weekend!

Nice to see you making a new post. There's a lot of work in the Lowry but the people do look like fun to stitch.

Shame about L*K retiring, they could just take a break and keep the charts in circulation.

That Lowry design is gorgeous and I am sure your Mom will be excited to receive it!

I am going to miss LK too. Her designs are quick and whimsical which is just what I need in my life! I have tons that I collected when I was working so it will be a while until I run out. I see people are selling their used charts for outrageous prices so whatever I really want I will really do a search for it if it is not in a shop.

Glad to see you posting again!

I am not a big Lizzie Kate fan but feel sad when a great designer retires, sadly this is happening with many of our designers retiring, I like Lizzie Kate when stitched by other people, I find them to be rather sweet.
I like all your finish's and the design for your Mother is lovely.

Blessings
Catherine

Your Lowry piece looks amazing Justine.
I hope you will show the finished piece for us to see.I have been struggling to post any more than once, occasionally twice a month because I spend quite a bit of my time knitting as well as stitching.I still like seeing other blogs in my feed though:)

I'm happy to hear your still going to blog, I think a lot of people now go on Facebook, YouTube/flosstube or Instagram it's sad to me. Life I guess. I still like my blog, it gets me stitching sometimes just for something to show. I also love seen other people's like yours. Love all your Lizzie Kate I didn't go all out with buying her charts because it's a lot of stitching words but other then the 2 I'm doing now I have 4 others to stitch in the future. Hope to see more posts from you. Happy Stitching!!!

Maybe if blogger would stop making so many silly and pointlessly annoying changes, more people would stick around! You've really done a lot on the Lowry design and those people will be so great to stitch hah. Especially the cute little doggos.

I think a lot of people were saddened by L*K retiring. At least there are a million designs to hoard! :D

Justine, You have been on my mind. Please don't stop blogging . You are the few bloggers I feel connected to and I have hard time making new friendships.

Good progress on the Lowry piece. Congrats on the finishes. When I started blogging I was not a LK fan but I appreciate her designs more now.

It's been great to see your progress on the gift stitching you are doing for your mum, I am sure you can meet your target. Wow can't believe LK is retiring, I've stitched a few of the designs and they have always been fun to stitch. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend x

Lovely small finishes, Justine! Great progress on your Mom's gift. My mom's 70th Birthday is in August this year. I don't have local friends here who enjoy needlework hobbies, so blogging is the way to get connected. I can share the happiness of my work with more people than just my family members.

I didn't go crazy with the L*Ks (still have a few to stitch and nayve U can snatch up a few used ones cheaply), but your finishes are to cute! I especially love the second one from the bottom.

So many darling LK finishes, Justine! You may have been absent from your blog for a bit, but it's nice to see you've been stitching. I was also happy to see you've joined Instagram, too :)

Your mom's piece will be lovely--it really almost looks like a painting. Can't wait to see it grow!

Enjoy your week, Justine--and happy June to you!

I would miss you if you stopped blogging. I have noticed quite a few of my favorites are quiet and I miss them so much. Glad to see you are still stitching and Wow you have got a lot done. Love your LKs. I never stitched her designs so I definitely had catching up to do. I bought 3 sets of her monthly designs. I think I will do them for my monthly smalls next year.

Nice to see the update of your stitched Lowry scene for your mum. It’s growing well! I’d have to use grid lines if I were stitching it, it’s much too big a project for me!
I love all your LK stitcheries, they are so cute! What a shame she is retiring!
I hope you don’t stop blogging, I always enjoy visiting your blog.
If you are on instagram too, can you let us know how to find you there please. I’m not “on” Instagram but I do like to visit.

I know that I was doing the same when The Prairie Schooler retired - I went through all my PS stash and started a ne project. I'm sure L*K will be dearly missed. Your L*K smalls are so sweet, Justine.
You made some nice progress on your birthday gift for your mom. It will be gorgeous.

I hope that you won't give up on your blog. I always love to visit it, no matter how often or not often you write a post.

It's a weird thing...this is normally when I'm stitching the most, but I just can't bring myself to do it right now. But it looks like you're doing enough for the both of us! Wow!

Please keep blogging!!! I much prefer blogging to other social media. It's seems more personal and there is alot more to our stitching life than just posting wips on fb.

I can't tell you how much I adore the Lowry design you chose for Mummy. You've got alot done since March and totally on track for a finish on time. Squee I can't wait to see the people stitched too.

Love LK pieces and happy to hear that there will be lots more to come.

Justine I truly love your Lowry stitch and your Mom is going to be head over heels about it. What a beauty!!! And look at all those LKate stitches...one is cuter than the next. I've been really sick the past two months and have really missed my blogging friends. I'm so glad I could spend time with you tonight. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
