Alice in Clockwork - Heaven and Earth Designs

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry I've neglected my blog for so long...

But I have been stitching!

Back in September I admitted to my friend Ingrid that I was feeling a bit fed up with my WIPs (works in progress) and that I had been seriously thinking of starting a Heaven and Earth Designs chart (HAED for short).

Funnily enough Ingrid had been thinking the same thing!  And so began our adventure...

On 14 September I started stitching on Alice in Clockwork by Jasmine Beckett Griffith.   The chart was gifted to me a while ago by an inspirational HAED stitcher who blogs at Pull the Other Thread. For those in the know, she is classed as a QS or Quick Stitch, though at 185 stitches wide and 232 stitches high there's still plenty of stitching to be done!

This is what she will look like when finished...

(picture borrowed from HAED website)

And here is my progress after 11 weeks of stitching on her!

I've completed three of the nine pages in the chart which represents the whole of the top row of this design, and roughly 45% of the total of the chart.  I'm stitching her with one thread on 25 count easy guide aida.

I can hardly bear to put her away but today I am treating myself to this new start, the chart for which Ingrid very kindly gave me.  This chart is called Mini Owl Family Portrait by Annya Kai.

There are over 40 rows of DMC 3766 at the top to begin with which should be relaxing to stitch!  I'm looking forward to some bright colours after the browns and golds of Alice.

Hope to be back with you before too long.

Until next time

Needle Minder Exchange

Hello everyone!

Today is the Big Reveal for the Needle Minder Exchange organised by my friend Mii Stitch.  The idea was to send a needle minder, a stitched gift and a skein of DMC floss.

I was lucky to receive my parcel from Carrie of Crafting Paws blog and she really spoiled me!  Look at all these goodies...

Not one but two needle minders, and not only that Carrie included a note to say that she had made these herself! Two beautiful autumnal threads...

...and such a cute fox ornament!

Thank you Carrie, I truly love everything you sent and feel completely spoiled!

I sent my parcel to Lorynn but don't know if it has been received or not.  She lives in Florida so I'm hoping that she and her family are OK and that my parcel has made it safely.

I won't post a photo just in case it is still en route.

Thank you Mii for organising this fun exchange!

Until next time

I'm back with an update on my July stitching.

Some of you may remember that I joined a Stitch Along to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity. I'm pleased to say I have finally caught up, in time for the final quote to be released on 1 September.

Long time no see

It's been a while since I've posted here.  Thanks to everyone who sent messages asking if I was OK. I had a busy few weeks at work and some health issues to deal with but don't worry I've done plenty of stitching so I have some things to share with you.

I am keeping up to date with the Lizzie*Kate monthly designs that were very kindly gifted to me by Julie.

I'm very proud of the fact that I have kept up with the Under the Sea SAL by Lakeside Needlecrafts, designed by Durene Jones.  Hot off my needle this morning is the whole thing including July's mermaid.

This is such a fun stitch but always takes me longer than I think it will to stitch each part!

I will be back soon with more including a couple of finishes, another SAL I am working on, an exchange and a new start.

Until next time

Theme-tas-Stitch March and April 2017

Hello again stitching friends

I am linking up today with Theme-tas-Stitch to show you what I have been working on in March and April.

March's theme was March Madness - stitch on as many projects as you dare!  I did not want to end the month with lots of new starts so I decided to stitch some smaller projects that could be finished within the month.

I also finished two that I showed you in my last post...

And then it all went a bit wrong as I found a SAL online that I just HAD to stitch!  It's by Stitchrovia and it's in aid of the charity MIND who help those with mental illnesses.  Mental illness of one kind or another will affect one in four of us at some point in our lives so it's a good cause as well as a great stitch!  Here's my progress to date - two months of the four released so far have been stitched.

If you like this design then there is chance to win all nine parts of the SAL on Jo's blog Serendipitous Stitching (just click on the blog name and it will take you directly to the right post to leave your comment).  Jo is having this awesome giveaway to celebrate six years of blogging.  It closes on 30th April so don't miss out!

April's theme for Theme-tas-Stitch is April Showers - stitch on anything with water in it!  So how about another SAL?  This time the Under The Sea SAL by Lakeside Needlecrafts, designed by Durene Jones.  Here are parts 1-3 stitched, just April's to catch up on now.

I wasn't planning to stitch either of these designs this year but I just couldn't resist!  I'm hoping to be caught up by the end of the month.

Next month is Monochrome May and I may need another new start to fit into this theme!

Until next time

Gifted Gorgeousness April 2017

I've had a few weeks' break from blogging but I have been stitching!  I have a few gifts to share with you today, both sent and received, and some gifted things that I have been using in my stitching.

Firstly I sent some charts to Clare and as a thank you she stitched this pretty stitching ornament for me.

Ornament from Clare

Thank you Clare, I love it!

I was also one of the lucky winners of a posting competition on Needlecraft Haven for the largest percentage increase in the number of posts over the first three months of the year.  I don't know how Clare worked out the maths but I was so happy to receive this gorgeous fabric and matching threads and I already have a project picked out for them!

Gift from Clare

I recently took part in a Needlecraft Haven Easter Exchange.  I was lucky to receive another ornament from Clare, this one.  I hope you can see from the photo how tiny and neat Clare's stitches are!

My partner was Dusty and I sent her this ornament, chart courtesy of Danybrod.  I also sent some chocolate but sadly it melted en route, luckily it didn't damage the ornament.

On Needlecraft Haven there is a Four Seasons SAL which I eagerly signed up for.  I already had this chart which was a gift from Rachel and the threads came from a box of Six Stranded Sweets threads that Julie gave to me at the Needlecraft Haven Autumn meet-up.

And just this morning the postman delivered this lovely chart from another stitching friend, Sally.  Thank you Sally!  I am hoping to stitch all four of these charts next year.

I will be back soon I promise to show you what else I have been stitching.  Bye for now!

Stitching on other things was a bit limited this month as I spent most of my time finishing Frosty Forest.

Yesterday was opening day for the Needlecraft Haven Autumn meet-up exchange.  Anyone who was at the meet-up was free to enter.  We each wrote down our favourite flower, colour and season on a card, and then the cards were selected randomly.  Each stitcher had to make a needlecase for their partner with the theme of their initial.  This is what I received from my partner, Lindsay...

I can't get it to show up in the photographs but the fabric has a beautiful sparkle to it.  I chose daisies and the colour blue, and my favourite season is spring.

There was also some chocolate included but that has already been started.  Thank you Lindsay, I love everything you chose for me and the needlecase will be well loved.

It's March Madness on the Theme-Tas-Stitch SAL this month but I have no idea what I am going to do!  I want to stitch the two monthly charts from the series I have so far kept up with this year, but I really don't want to end the month with lots of new WIPs!  If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful

Hope you all enjoy a bit of Spring sunshine this week!

Theme-Tas-Stitch February 2017

It's time for the very first Theme-Tas-Stitch check-in!

Theme-Tas-Stitch is the brainchild of Kerry at Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict, check out more information here. There are 11 of us signed up so far, together with our lovely hostess. Each month has a theme and for February the theme was...

Focus Finish February -
Is there a WIP in your stash that you would love to get finished - then focus on a finish in February!
Well I was hoping for a finish in time for today's check-in date, but it hasn't happened. However I'm sure I will have finished this before month end!

Here it was at the end of January, 5 blocks complete, 4 to go...

And here it is now - so close!

As you can see I am now stitching the final block on the bottom left hand corner.  I'll be back hopefully before the month end with a finish and some close-up photos to share!

Thank you Kerry for hosting Theme-Tas-Stitch and giving me the kick up the **** I needed to get this project finished!

Until next time

Gifted Gorgeousness February 2017

I have lots of Gifted Gorgeousness to share with you today! Firstly it was my birthday last week and my lovely friend Ingrid of Mii Stitch made me this beautiful pincushion...

It's a freebie La D Da design and is stitched with the most beautiful ThreadworX threads - thank you again Ingrid!

I took part in a Valentine's Day Exchange over at Needlecraft Haven. There was no requirement to stitch anything, instead you had to send a pair of socks with pink/red/hearts theme and threads to match.  I forgot to take a picture of the parcel I sent out, but look at the gorgeous happy socks, threads and a sweet Valentine's card I received from Mary! Thank you again Mary, it was a lovely parcel.

Wednesday nights we meet in the Parlour at Needlecraft Haven and I have a special project that I stitch every Wednesday, which is this Alice chart by Tralala which Ingrid gifted me in March 2015.

I finished Alice! She just needs one more flower in her basket and then I'll be moving on the next motif. I'm really enjoying this one night a week stitching her and it's surprising how quickly she is stitching up.

Head over to Jo's blog to check out all the other Gifted Gorgeousness that's around this month!

Edited to add: I forgot to show you this little Lizzie*Kate pillow I sent to a friend for her birthday! I used a tutorial by The Twisted Stitcher Vonna from her Finishing School and it was so simple, it was like having a teacher right in the room with me!

Until next time
