My first finish of 2016

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all enjoying a good start to the new year.  I'm not doing Crazy January Challenge this year, having still got projects left over from 2014 and 2015, but I'm really enjoying cheering on several fellow bloggers with their new starts.  It seems there has been a trend this year to choose smaller projects, and hopefully there will be lots of finishes to admire later in the year!

My goal for 2016 is to reduce my WIPs/UFOs.  I was honest with myself last year and got rid of 3 or 4 projects that I knew I would never stitch, which left me starting the new year with 11 started projects.  I know this is a lot less than some stitchers, but most of them are medium to large projects (for me) and I often find the list quite overwhelming.

Anyway, I'm off to a great start with my first finish!  This was started back in September 2013 just after I started blogging, and just before I started stashing!  It was pushed to one side in favour of new starts, but I'm pleased to say it is finally finished.

Here it was last time you saw it...

And here it is hot off the needles!

History Timeline by Bothy Threads
Stitched on 14 count white aida
with threads included in kit
Started 13 September 2013, finished 10 January 2016

This was an absolute joy to stitch, particularly when I picked it up again just after Christmas and became a one at a time stitcher again!  I'm so pleased with how it turned out and am planning to have it framed so we can use it as a history reference.

I am treating myself to a little new start now, but just a little ornament so that I can quickly go back to my WIP list and choose one of the ten remaining projects to finish!  My ultimate goal is not to have any UFOs, and for all started projects to be stitched on regularly.  It may take me a year or two but I will get there!

I wonder which project to pull out of the WIP pile next?

Until next time

Justine

  12. Congrats on the lovely finish, Justine!! :)
I am also doing the same thing, keeping less WIPs. I am trying to keep 5 cross stitch and 5 crochet WIPs at any point of time and mostly I stitch one at a time for many days. I don't feel satisfied to work on another piece until a substantial part is done on one.

  13. Congratulations on finishing this great project. Great job!
I'm not doing any Crazy Challenges either this year, I just want to focus on my big projects and maybe get one or two finished this year. Maybe. And I want to start some new projects, big ones of course, lol.
I'm looking forward to seeing what WIP you picked from your list. Mine would have been the first, the village design. Or maybe one of the Cut-Through pieces.

I am doing the Crazy Jan challenge again but this time I am trying to be smart and do lots of little ones.... mostly the magazine freebies that I have been hoarding which I can then finish quickly and turn into birthday for this year! Then I hope to be able to focus on the UFO's from last year..... :o)
Good luck with knocking off those other UFO's
    Hugs xx
