A month of Alice is almost over...

If you remember I designated July the month of Alice of Wonderland, to mark the 150th anniversary of its publication.  I picked up one of my Crazy January Challenge 2015 new starts, the gorgeous Alice in Wonderland by Madame Chantilly, and here is where I got with it...

Alice in Wonderland
Madame Chantilly
Stitched on 28 count Cashel linen
with recommended DMC threads

Close-up of the detail - I think the bottle was my favourite to stitch so far!

I'm not altogether happy with my progress but I am enjoying stitching this one which is what counts!

I have a little gift to share with you...this came from Melanie the WIP slayer.  She ordered a few too many for gifts at a retreat, so decided to share them with the readers who had recently commented most on her blog.  What a great way to hold a giveaway - I may have to pinch the idea!  Anyway, I was one of the lucky winners and received a "stitchy bug" needleholder this week, isn't it cute?!

Now I will always know where to find my stitchy bug.

I am taking a little break from blogging for some family time and a little holiday but don't worry I'll be back soon, hopefully with some stitching to show!

Until next time

Gifted Gorgeousness July 2015 and a new giveaway winner!

I know, I know, I'm late but only by 4 days!

Before I start with Gifted Gorgeousness, I would like to announce a new winner of the Wildlife book I offered here back at the start of July.  The winner is...

LESLEY!!!

Sadly the previous winner did not contact me despite two shout-outs so I have drawn another winner.  Lesley please would you email me with your postal address and I will get the chart book posted to you.

Gifted Gorgeousness is hosted by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching.  On the 15th of each month we share piccies of anything to do with gifting...gifts we have received, gifts we are giving, something with the word "Gift" on it - you get the idea!

So this month I have two finishes to share with you. This chart came to me via the Travelling Treasure Chest which was started by Kim of Wisdom with Needle and Thread.  I wonder what happened to the chest?  I haven't seen it for a while.  The idea was that you would take out 2 or 3 charts or kits that you liked and replace with 2 or 3 of your own, and send it on its way!

I chose this little Lizzie*Kate limited edition kit, "Flowers", which included the fabric to complete the design.  I changed some of the colours as I didn't have all of the recommended over-dyed floss.  I will probably finish this as a little pillow...

Flowers by Lizzie*Kate
Started 1st July 2015, finished 5th July 2015
Stitched with WDW, GAST and Crescent Colors threads

I am also pleased to report that the envelope I sent to Kim for Mii Stitch's Mail Art Exchange has been received - I can't share a photo as I forgot to take one but you can see it on Kim's blog here together with the gorgeous envelope Kim sent to Albena.

Have a lovely week everyone

A month of Alice and last call for giveaway winner

Hope you're all having a nice stitchy weekend.  I haven't been well the last few days so stitching has slowed a bit, but I do have a little bit of progress to show you on my Alice in Wonderland by Madame Chantilly.

Two cakes, a stack of teacups and a teapot!

One of our fellow stitchers (Rosey I'm looking at you) said she didn't think I could be English as I don't own a teapot!  It got me thinking.  I do love a good cup of tea, strong with plenty of milk, but tend to just make it with a teabag straight into the mug.  It's much nicer in a teapot and I am on the lookout for a nice one!

Last call for giveaway winner!  Barb was the winner of the Ultimate Cross Stitch Wildlife book which I offered as a giveaway.  Barb, please would you contact me with your address so I can post it to you?  If I don't hear from you I will draw another winner.

I have also signed up for the Christmas Ornie SAL organised by Kaye of Kitten Stitching - stitch one ornament a month, what could be easier?  I am going to really challenge myself that not only do I have to stitch an ornament each month, but I have to finish it THE SAME MONTH!  I am not a keen finisher but I would like to have some new goodies on my tree this year.

A month of Alices, a day late YOTA and giveaway winners!

Dear all

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  The weather in the UK has been rather strange the last few days - yesterday we were eating ice cream in the sunshine and today we have been sheltering from a huge thunderstorm!  Which meant a bit of crafty time with my two boys this afternoon.

First up is my YOTA update.  This is a fun SAL hosted by Pull the Other Thread - low stress, once a month posting on whatever you like!  I decided to focus on my Bothy Threads Pirate Ship so that younger son can enjoy it while he is still young enough.  Here's where it was last time I stitched on it...

And here's where I'm up to now!

Excuse the black thread at the top of the photo, that's me making a start on the Jolly Roger!  Here's a close up of the sails...

I'm really pleased with my progress on this one and hope to have it finished some time soonish.

Now onto my month of Alices.  I have been a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland since I was a little girl and my mum gave me a red "leather" bound copy for being good while she had to go into hospital.  I still treasure that book.  I have collected several Alice charts over the years but never stitched any.  This month is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice in Wonderland and as a tribute I decided to stitch exclusively on Alice charts for the month of July.  Linda at SUch is life is joining me by stitching her Soda Stitch Alice chart - go and have a look as she's stitched lots already!  I started with one of my Debbie's Crazy January Challenge 2015 starts - Alice in Wonderland by Madame Chantilly.  Here it was at the start of the year...

I've stitched another cake since then but don't have a good photo to share.  Tonight I am hoping to finish a teacup and teapot and then it will be onto Alice herself!  Here's the chart picture in case you haven't seen it before.

And finally to the winners of my giveaway!  The winner of the Wildlife chart book is...

And the winner of the Fantasy stitch book is...

Tiki of Tiki Stitches!

Barb and Tiki, please would you email me your snail mail addresses (my email address is on my blogger profile) and I will get your books in the mail to you this week.

I think that's all for now, I'm off to stitch on Alice, what are you all doing this evening?

Until next time
