A month of Alices, a day late YOTA and giveaway winners!

Dear all

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  The weather in the UK has been rather strange the last few days - yesterday we were eating ice cream in the sunshine and today we have been sheltering from a huge thunderstorm!  Which meant a bit of crafty time with my two boys this afternoon.

First up is my YOTA update.  This is a fun SAL hosted by Pull the Other Thread - low stress, once a month posting on whatever you like!  I decided to focus on my Bothy Threads Pirate Ship so that younger son can enjoy it while he is still young enough.  Here's where it was last time I stitched on it...

And here's where I'm up to now!

Excuse the black thread at the top of the photo, that's me making a start on the Jolly Roger!  Here's a close up of the sails...

I'm really pleased with my progress on this one and hope to have it finished some time soonish.

Now onto my month of Alices.  I have been a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland since I was a little girl and my mum gave me a red "leather" bound copy for being good while she had to go into hospital.  I still treasure that book.  I have collected several Alice charts over the years but never stitched any.  This month is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice in Wonderland and as a tribute I decided to stitch exclusively on Alice charts for the month of July.  Linda at SUch is life is joining me by stitching her Soda Stitch Alice chart - go and have a look as she's stitched lots already!  I started with one of my Debbie's Crazy January Challenge 2015 starts - Alice in Wonderland by Madame Chantilly.  Here it was at the start of the year...

I've stitched another cake since then but don't have a good photo to share.  Tonight I am hoping to finish a teacup and teapot and then it will be onto Alice herself!  Here's the chart picture in case you haven't seen it before.

And finally to the winners of my giveaway!  The winner of the Wildlife chart book is...

And the winner of the Fantasy stitch book is...

Tiki of Tiki Stitches!

Barb and Tiki, please would you email me your snail mail addresses (my email address is on my blogger profile) and I will get your books in the mail to you this week.

I think that's all for now, I'm off to stitch on Alice, what are you all doing this evening?

Until next time

Justine

Hi Justine - Your Bothy Pirate Ship is coming along nicely. I am tempted to join a SAL I think it would be great fun. My problem is I want to do too many things. I have just joined an art journaling group on facebook. Thanks for your comment on my Sunday favourites - very much appreciated. Joan at www.aviewtothefells.com

Justine, your Alice stitching is darling--what a fun design! I love things with little motifs like that--it feels like a finish as each motif is stitched :) Nice progress on the pirate ship, too...

Hope your July is going well!

Yay to the winners~ :D

I really like this Bothy chart, I mean there is a pirate kitty with a peg leg! How can that not be awesome?! And your month of Alices will be amazing. I'm doing nothing spectacular craft wise in the evenings because it's been so hot. I move to the basement until it's time for bed!

Beautiful progress on the pirate ship. And yes, we should stitch these things while our kids are still young enough. I still have a dragon chart that I wanted to stitch for my younger son when he was interested in dragons a long time ago - now he is an adult and the chart is still unstitched, lol.

A wonderful idea to have an Alice month, It will be fun to stitch only on designs related to this great book.
