Crazy January Challenge 6

I have a cute finish to show you today.

The Love Rain by Soda Stitch
Stitched on DMC 14 count pink spot aida
using recommended DMC threads
Started 14th January 2015, finished 25th April 2015

Here's a little close-up...

This was my first Soda Stitch design but it definitely won't be my last! I have a couple of their designs in my stash which I'm looking forward to stitching. The colours are true to the picture on the chart and this was a lovely quick fun design to stitch.

Back to Alice today!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

First page of Alice finished!

Yes you heard right, I've finished my first page of twenty on Alice and the Dodo in just 11 days!

3,500 stitches down, 89,000 or so to go!

Exciting huh? There are five or six main colours on this page but it's basically a big grey smush. I love working on her though and her hair starts to make an appearance on page 2 so something to look forward to!

In other stitching news, I stitched labels into ten items of school uniform and have six more to go. How is it I can cross stitch reasonably neatly but I can't make two stitches the same length on a name tag?!

Hope all you needles stay sharp this week.

New friends and Gifted Gorgeousness April

Hi everyone!

I must tell you about the most wonderful weekend I've just had.  I met up with Ingrid of Mii Stitch and Rachel of Ten Hour Stitcher for a weekend of shopping at the Nimble Thimble in Oswestry, chatting and stitching.  There was a lot more chatting than stitching.  It felt as if we had known each other for years.  Thanks ladies for a great weekend - let's do it again soon!

Of course everyone brought gifts.  Here are mine from Rachel...

Stitchers Make The Best Friends chart, a keyring, lots of buttons and beads, a cute butterfly needleminder and a whole jar stuffed full of bright ribbons!

And these goodies came from Ingrid...

Alice Tralala chart, Tilda fabric, Nina's and DMC threads, a cute Tatty Teddy kit, notebook and sew handy tissues

Ingrid had also made gorgeous pinkeeps for both Rachel and I, here's mine...

As I said, there was more chatting than stitching, but I did get a few stitches in Roma, which is also a Gifted Gorgeousness piece as it was my Secret Santa gift from work last Christmas (I've put quite a few more stitches into it this week)

I love working on this one so much, the colours are lovely and as always with Lanarte kits the fabric and floss are both good quality.  However, she is now having to compete with my new love, Alice and the Dodo.

Here's a close-up...

You should be able to see the outline of the first page (of twenty, shhhhh!)

Here's what she will look like when finished.

As you can probably tell, I've started in the top left hand corner (I promise, Rachel, I won't stop there!)  I'm going to stitch in rows rather than columns and the second page should see the start of Alice's hair.

Well that's all for now as I want to catch up on all your blogs and then get back to Alice as she's calling!

Until next time

YOTA and more Crazy January progress

Hello to everyone reading this.  Here we are enjoying a long weekend, school holidays and of course Easter.  Some last minute Easter finishes are in order this afternoon but first here's some cross stitch progress to show you.

The first Saturday of the month is our YOTA update.  This is a fun easy-going SAL hosted by Pull the Other Thread.  My plan is to stitch on just one project at a time from my Unfinished Objects pile, until it's finished.

I had one finish during March which I couldn't wait to share with you, here it is again in case you missed it...
Clocks by Lanarte

I asked for suggestions on what I should stitch next and Morning Glory by Nora Corbett came out top.  Sadly I'm just not enjoying on stitching this.  I think it's because I don't have any plans for the finished piece and living in a house full of boys no one else will appreciate this framed on the wall!

I did make a little bit of progress on her left wing...

Here's the whole thing so far.

I am a bit disappointed by my lack of progress but am thinking of swapping this one for something else.  Nothing else grabs me at the moment though, apart from my Crazy January pieces! (oh and a couple of new charts I have but I'm sworn off new starts for now!)

First up from the Crazy January pile this month was Roma by Lanarte.  This was my Secret Santa gift from work.  I still don't know who chose this for me but I love it!  I'm now up to here...

Sorry it's a bit crumpled.  You can see the outline of her head and hand starting at the top, and the Coliseum bottom left.  Here's the finished article...

I then moved on to this one and stitched the boy.

The Love Rain by Soda Stitch

Here's a picture of what it will look like when finished.

This is really cute and fun but I'm going to move on now to one of my other Crazy January pieces.  I wonder which one?

I only ever log into blogger when typing my posts, and when I started writing this post about half an hour ago I had 199 followers.  I am so happy to say that I now have 200!  I was planning a little giveaway soon and now seems like such a good time.  Stay tuned as I will be publishing details next week!

Thanks everyone for looking and hope you all have a lovely Easter/Spring/whatever else you have to celebrate!

Until next time
