Missed my blogaversary! Plus I'm out of SFS...

I could have sworn my first blogaversary was going to happen in September!  In actual fact it was on 24th August.  I can't believe I have been blogging now for a whole year!  I have been made very welcome in the blogging/stitching community and have made some dear friends.  Thank you to everyone who has read my blog and commented over the past year.  I love sharing my stitching with you and hope to carry on for many years to come!

Anyway, I think it is tradition to have a giveaway round about now so that's what I'm going to do.  Open to all followers, old and new.  Please leave a comment on this blog telling me you would like to enter.  Prize will be a handmade piece and a few other little goodies from me.

Here's a recent little finish...
Halloween Mini by Lizzie*Kate Snip-It - Sampling Halloween
Stitched on Permin 32 count Amber linen
with recommended DMC, GAST and WDW threads
Started 22nd August 2014, finished 23rd August 2014

I made a little adjustment to the chart.  There was a motif between the K and the L which I could not figure out.  I think it may be a kind of American sweet.  I didn't like it so I swapped it for a bat which I charted myself.  I loved this little sweet stitch.

Now, onto my epic fail on SFS.  SFS is hosted by Mel at Epic Stitching.  I and many others have been trying to stitch from stash this year, only buying what we actually need.  We are allowed £25 per month to spend on stitching goodies, and one free month per year.  I had my free month in May when I went a bit mad buying cross stitch kits.  Well, I've done it again, this time on etsy.

I won't show you here what I bought as it's not for the faint-hearted, but I've added pictures to my Stash page.  If you want to have a nosey, please look for the header at the top of my blog.  It's not pretty!  Well, the charts are pretty, but not the greed.  Plus I then ordered fabric and threads to stitch them.

So, I'm out of the game!  I haven't emailed Mel yet to admit it.  I know I'm not the first but I am disappointed.  I'm planning on sticking to it for the rest of the year, but who knows what will happen?  I am weak-willed, that's for sure.

One more thing before I go, do you want to see my Millennium Frame and Necessaire Floor Stand which (finally) arrived?  Here they are...

I have never used a frame before, just stitched in hand, but this is so much nicer!  I love how the fabric stays so taut.  The frame is easy to use and the wood is just beautiful.  It was a long wait but so worth it.

Well, that's all from me for now, don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Until next time

Justine

Congrats on the cute finish Justine. Your new frame looks great. I too stitch in hand. I love all your new stash. I have all the Satsuma Pretty Little Cities. She is working on Barcelona now. I wrote her and she replied that she is going to keep doing the cities and would eventually like to do all the US states. I would love to be entered in your giveaway.

Awww...you can't give up on SfS so close to the finish line! If you have a couple of good months you can still end up in credit! (Says she who spent £63 this month!) Don't forget we have a bonus $25 this month too which helps to bring it nearer the allowance.

Congratulations on your 1 year blogoversary. I cannot believe that I have only known you for 1 year, I feel like I have known you forever (in a good way). I would love to enter your giveaway please.

I love your little halloween piece, really cute and looks better stitched up too. What a gorgeous looking frame. I keep thinking about one but it is a bit of an investment at the moment and I'm not sure if I would like working on with it.

Count me in for your giveaway! Sorry you pulled out of SFS. It's pretty hard to keep to the budget especially this month. Your stash looks super good though!

Hey you lasted for 8 months with a budget so don't beat yourself up. It's a good way to learn about your spending habits and shopping impulses. Your new frame is just plain beautiful and it looks like you are stitching something interesting!

Such a lot to comment on - your finished piece is really cute and I'm really glad you like the Millennium frame and stand (eventually!) I would not be without mine and the investment is really worth it! I love your new stash too. The cities are on my "in limbo" wishlist. And as for SFS - at least you took part! and lasted this long! I would have had to quit after a couple of months!!! :)

I have a stand but never use it, just love my hoop best :) I just find it so awkward when trying to work on the back :P Well have fun with your new toy!!
Don't worry to much about the SFS, I didn't join because I knew I would be too weak and buy stash :D Off to have a little sneak peak at your purchases xoxo

Love your little Halloween stitch and I'm glad you're enjoying the frame and stand. I took a look at your new stash - gorgeous! Surely you don't have to pull out of SFS, there are 4 months left and we had the extra to spend this month as well.

Happy first Blogaversary! Like everyone else I love your Halloween piece.
I don't think I could go two months without buying something, so I think your 8 months is admirable!
I would love to be entered into your giveaway. Thanks:)

Happy blogaversary! I would love to be entered.

Congrats on your Halloween piece. Love your little bat. I went to your stash page and everything is beautiful. This is exactly why I didn't join in the SFS haha. Glad you like your new stand.

Congrats on the blogaversary and the finish!! :) Your frame looks good. I earlier thought of buying a similar kind but then the shipping costs are very high and also I don't use frame very often for cross stitch.
I would love to bein your giveaway. I am now going to see your stash and get inspired;)

Happy Blogaversary, such a thrill for you! Well done on your first year of blogging. I would love to be entered in your giveaway. Never mind about Stitching from Stash, I am about to go and check out your Stash page now. hugs Kaye (P.S. I will post about your giveaway on the sidebar of my blog, too).

Happy blogaversary. So you spent more than you should have, well, let's face it we all know that if we don't buy something when we see it then we may never see it again. Also, some of us need to be keeping the industry moving, if everyone stitched from stash the shops would close down through lack of business. x

Don't be so hard on yourself Justine, I'm sure Mel was hosting SFS as a bit of fun to see if it could save us all a bit of money and fall in love again with forgotten projects. I'm sure you've still saved money in the long run and hopefully enjoyed the challenge too :) I would love to throw my name in the hat for your giveaway. I'm so pleased I found your blog through SFS, it's one of my favourites :) Best wishes.

Love your Halloween finish.

I wouldn't feel bad about SFS. You've done well to get this far Did you use your bonus as well? I'd hate you to have forgotten that and think you're out if you didn't use it.
