I love blogging!

I love blogging!  It's so lovely to be able to share stitching progress with you all.

This week I have been working on Nora Corbett's Morning Glory from the Pixie Couture collection.  It's my first one of this type of project and I'm enjoying it.  I'm stitching on 32 count Lugana by Sparklies.  The colour is Lorchen and it's beautiful to stitch on, lovely and soft and with the edges already overlocked so it's ready to go.  This photo is true to the colour.

Could I ask those of you who have stitched with beads, what did you use to stitch the beads on?  The pattern recommends either matching thread or invisible thread but I have never beaded on a large project before and am not sure which would look best.

Thanks to everyone who entered my little giveaway.  I could have given that little mouse away quite a few times!  In the end the winners were Jo who chose the ladybird, Chris who liked the owl, and Gaynor who didn't mind which one she received!  The parcels are going out tomorrow so I hope you all like what you receive.

Giveaways are lots of fun, especially if you have done the stitching beforehand, so I'm sure I will have another one soon.

I've also been working on an exchange piece for a Gorjuss exchange I am doing with Ingrid at Mii stitch.  I can't tell you what I am stitching but it's part of the Gorjuss range by Bothy Threads and as usual for Bothy Threads it's lovely to stitch up.

I need a new start but can't decide between this one...

or this one!

I am so desperate to start the HAED but am still waiting for Needle Needs to get new stock of their Millennium Frame and Stand.

See you all soon for my Stitch From Stash update!

Until next time

Giveaway time!

Thank you to everyone who kindly offered tips on finishing on my last post. There were some great tips and if you do pillow finishes I encourage you to read the comments on my last post as there are some expert stitchers' tips on there.

Now, as's my giveaway! I used a random number generator and the winner was comment number 20 which is...

Jo of Serendipitous Stitching!

Jo please email me with your postal address and let me know whether you would prefer the flower sampler or the ladybird.

I decided for some more Easter fun that I would draw two more names and they are stitchersanon and Chris (Tot Hill Farm Stitches). Please let me have your postal addresses and I will be sending you something too!

Wow...that was fun. I can't show you any stitching as I am working on something for an exchange but I hope you have a lovely fun and stitching filled Easter.

Until next time

Some finish finishes and a giveaway!

I'm so excited to show these to you. I finally threaded up my new sewing machine, dug out some smalls, bought some gorgeous fabric, and made these...

Curio Ladybird by Heart in Hand - a win from Heather

Thanks to Mii stitch and Stitchers Anon for inspiration and tips on finishing. Mine are nowhere near the standard they produce but I'm very proud of them for a first attempt.  The ones that have fabric on the front are backed in the same fabric.  The mouse and the sampler are lying on what's left of the backing fabric.

So proud in fact that I would like to offer one as a giveaway prize!  If you would like to win one, please leave a comment on this post only, saying which one you would like, and leaving a tip on finishing.  If you don't do finishing, then you can still enter.  The first one out of the hat next Friday morning will win their chosen piece, plus a few other goodies.

This week I've worked on two of my CJC pieces...

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend. Until next time, keep stitching! (and don't forget to enter my giveaway!)

Two more finishes

Thank you to everyone who left lovely comments on my last post. I was touched that so many of you took the time to comment on my baby sampler finish. I started blogging to be able to share progress with like-minded people as I know no one in "real life" who is the slightest bit interested (my husband's reaction when I showed him the sampler finally finished was a slightly sarcastic "Huzzah"). I love sharing my progress with you and even more so following your progress on all your wonderful projects. So, thank you from me!

My needles have been busy this week! I finished two more of my Crazy January Challenge pieces. Six down, nine to go.

Here's Lizzie*Kate's Little Cups of Friendship. I'm going to finish this as a flat hanging ornament for my dear friend Michelle at work. She makes lots of cups of tea for everyone sat around her in the office. She is such a kind friend and we have got each other through some bad work days.

Stitched on 27 count Tea Northern Cross linen
using recommended GAST and WDW threads
Started 14/1/14, finished 3/4/14

My second finish of the week came this afternoon just before we set off for my brother's 40th birthday celebration. Our family and his wife's family went out for a meal together. Low key like we have always done things in my family - the perfect celebration.

February's Primrose by Cottage Garden Samplings
Stitched on 32 count Permin linen French Lace
using recommended GAST, WDW and DMC threads
Started 15/1/14, finished 6/4/14

I really love this series and enjoyed every stitch of this one. The linen is quite stiff and with using the variegated threads I felt like I was really creating a museum piece! I am now desperate to start March's Daffodils but really want to make some progress on my WIPs before starting my HAED!

Thank you to everyone who left good wishes for my health on my last post. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather but must go back to work tomorrow. Going to take it easy though and drink plenty of tea!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and have a great week planned.

Until next time, keep stitching!

At last a finish!

I should really wait until the WIPocalypse update to share this...but I can't.  I'm so excited!  Please happy dance with "baby" finally has a birth sampler!

A is for Ark birth sampler by Historical Sampler Company
Stitched on 32 count linen with included threads
Started December 2008, finished 23rd March 2014

I'm so grateful to finally have this finished, I nearly threw it out last year as I thought I had just left it too late.  My son's face when he saw it finally done was worth every stitch.  I had really lost the way on this one but once I picked it up again in February I loved every stitch and couldn't put it down!

I've also stitched quite a bit this month on my Bothy Threads Cut Thru Pirate Ship.  This is supposed to be a Wednesday SAL with Jan but I hope she will forgive me for stitching on it throughout the week as I just love it!

I am trying to make some progress on my Crazy January Challenge pieces so that once I have frame and stand I can get started on my HAED without feeling too guilty.  Here's Little Cups of Friendship which I am going to give to a friend at work who is always making cups of tea!

And here are a couple more photos, first up Bothy Threads Cut Thru North Pole House.  I have lost a bit of interest in this one as it's "out of season" - I want to stitch spring things now not winter!

And last up for today is my niece's ballerina picture which I hope to make into a door hanger for her.

I am laid low at the moment with something called post-viral bronchial spasm, which basically just means I feel very breathless.  I stupidly pushed on without seeing a doctor until yesterday when I was sent home from work.  I haven't felt up to stitching the last couple of days but I have been catching up with reading and commenting on your lovely blogs.  I have missed a lot!

Until next time, keep stitching!
